HELEN BUTLER FRANKLIN

Helen Butler Franklin, 87, passed away on Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at SECU Hospice House of Johnston Health in Smithfield.

Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. today, Oct. 14, 2012, at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, with her grandson, the Rev. Joseph Franklin III, officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery. At other times, the family will be at the home of Joey and Betty Franklin in Rosewood.

Helen was born in Randolph County to the late Kerney B. Butler and Bessie Mae Harmon Butler. She was married to the late Joe W. Franklin Sr. Helen was a graduate of Mebane High School and was retired from Branch Banking and Trust Company. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Helen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph "Joey" and Betty Franklin; grandsons, Joseph W. Franklin III and wife, Tiffany; David P. Franklin and wife, Claire; great-grandsons, Gabriel, Parker and Carter; and great-granddaughter, Danielle. She was also preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, including Mozelle B. Franklin and J.C. "Jack" Butler of Goldsboro.
