PIKEVILLE -- Joanne Musgrave Edmundson, 77, went peacefully to be with her Lord Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Joanne was born in Wayne County Dec. 31, 1934, to the late Louis Peter Musgrave and Sarah Jinnette Musgrave, who died Jan. 12, 1935, a short time after giving birth to Joanne.

She was a graduate of Salem Academy in Winston-Salem, and had also attended Duke University.

Joanne will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.

Her primary goal was the happiness and security of her family.

Joanne was a sweet kind person whose loving spirit and ever present smile radiated the joy she experienced in living every day of her life as a Christian woman. She carried herself with poise and grace, and will also be remembered for leading others by her positive example.

Joanne was a lifelong member of Antioch Free Will Baptist Church, where she served as the pianist for more than 25 years.

A service remembering Joanne will be held Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Greg Stancil and the Rev. DeDe Britt officiating. Burial will follow in Edmundson Family Cemetery.

Joanne is survived by her husband of 57 years, Henry Edmundson; daughter, Jeanette Edmundson Trimble of Somerset, Ky., and boyfriend, Doug Winbon; sons, Dr. Henry Garland "Hank" Edmundson Jr. and partner, Charles Joseph "Chuck" Cardillo, of Raleigh and William Pete Edmundson and wife, Sharon, of Pikeville; grandchildren, Dulcey Trimble and husband, John Evans, Raina Trimble, and Tyler Edmundson; and a special friend, Anna Edmundson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a very special uncle and aunt who raised her, James Issac Musgrave and Louise Hooks Musgrave.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Antioch Free Will Baptist Church, 1407 Antioch Road, Pikeville, N.C., 27863.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
