KENLY -- Mrs. Irma Smith Etheridge, 81, Kenly, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012.
She was born Sept. 10, 1931, in Fremont to the late Braxton and Josephine Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Hamp Etheridge.
She was a graduate of Fremont High School and Meredith College.
Mrs. Etheridge taught school before beginning a family.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was also a longtime member of Kenly United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her three sons, Kenneth P. Etheridge and wife, Belinda, Donald C. Etheridge and wife, Ann, and Mark E. Etheridge and wife, Lisa.
In addition, she is survived by her brother, Burton Smith and wife, Martha, of Fremont. Also, left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Jon Etheridge, Paula Murray, Kate Etheridge, Anna Etheridge and Ryan Etheridge, and a great-granddaughter, Emma Etheridge.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, in Minshew-Coley Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in Kenly Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. David Amon.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the funeral home chapel.
