DARRELL W. PEARSON

Darrell W. Pearson, 77, passed away peacefully on Sept. 8, 2012, in Goldsboro.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Park at 2 p.m. with full military honors.
Born March 5, 1935, Darrell was the son of the late Richard Lafayette and Grace Ward Pearson. Darrell served in the United States Air Force and retired after 24 years, having served several tours of duty during the Vietnam War. Darrell was stationed at several Air Force bases in the United States and around the world including Berlin, Germany, and Okinawa, Japan, where he met his wife of 54 years, Sachiko K. Pearson. Darrell retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant, and he was a member of the Air Force Retiree Association (Alliance for Retired Persons). He continued working after his retirement from the Air Force with Carolina Phone and Alarms.
In addition to his wife, Darrell is survived by a son, James A. "Drew" Pearson and wife, Donna, of Raleigh; a daughter, Carolyn P. Braswell and husband, Jim, of Rosewood; and four grandchildren, Kyle A. Pearson, Matthew A. Pearson, Meredith E. Braswell and James W. Braswell III.
In addition to his parents, Darrell is preceded in death by a sister, Betty J. Patterson and two brothers, William A. Gaines and Richard L. Pearson Jr.
