Mr. James Franklyn Young, 82, lovingly known by his family and friends as James, 224 Herbert St., departed his earthly life peacefully Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

James was born in Chatham County, Ga., June 28, 1929, to the late Jo Anna Spann Young and Leo Miller Young.

Mr. Young was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Josephine Faison Young.

James attended the public schools in Chatham County, Ga.

As a young man, he met, dated and married Mrs. Josephine Faison Young, and to this union four children were born.

Mr. Young served his country by enlisting into the United States Army, in which he received his honorable release from active duty award.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, June 23, 2012, at 1 p.m. at First Assembly Church of God, 3000 Summit Road, Goldsboro. Pastor Allen Strickland will officiate. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, 2925 N. U.S. 117, Goldsboro.

Also, a public viewing will be held Saturday, June 23, 2012, at First Assembly Church of God, 3000 Summit Road, Goldsboro, from 12:30 to 12:50 p.m., with the family present to receive friends and other family members.

Mr. Young leaves to cherish his loving and precious memories two daughters, Jo Anne Young of the home and Mildred Young Cunningham and husband, Sam, of Atlanta, Ga.; two sons, Victor J. Young and wife, Lisa, of Goldsboro and Joseph R. Young of Pikeville; a brother, Leo Young of Augusta, Ga.; five sisters, Mildred Pegues of Las Vegas, Nev., Sarah Wilson of Baltimore, Md., Dorothy Ford of New York, Rosalie Young of Savannah, Ga., and Betty Coney of Homestead, Fla.; an aunt, Catherine Truitt of Goldsboro; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

The family will assemble at the residence, 224 Herbert St., Goldsboro, one hour prior to the funeral at 11:30 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
