Jean Whaley Herring, 61, passed away Wednesday afternoon at home surrounded by her family.

Jean was born in Duplin County Oct. 3, 1950, to the late Owen and Viola Hall Whaley. She was married to the late James Herring.

Jean worked with Horne Storage until retirement.

Funeral services will be Friday at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with Carl Dean Baker officiating. A private interment will be Saturday at Whaley Cemetery.

Jean is survived by her son, Jaye Drumm of Goldsboro; her daughters, Bonnie Turner of Goldsboro and Kim Drumm of New Jersey; her brothers, Roy Whaley and Donald Whaley both of Beulaville; her sister, Betty Potter of Kinston; and her half-sister, Kate Sanderson of Beulaville.

The family will receive friends Friday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home.
