BLANCHE D. GURGANUS

Oct. 5, 1918-Jan. 21, 2012

On Saturday afternoon, Jan. 21, 2012, Blanche Daniels Gurganus, 93, moved to her Heavenly home.

The family will receive friends Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, from 1 until 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service in the chapel at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Marty Gurganus and the Rev. Barry Teague officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Blanche was a godly woman who loved the Lord and her family and set an example for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will lead them all their lives.

Blanche was born in Wayne County on Oct. 5, 1918, to the late Ed Daniels and Ruth Smith Daniels Dees. She was married to the late Joe Gurganus, who preceded her in death on May 12, 1990. Blanche retired from Sylvania, but will be remembered for her devotion to both God and family. At the age of 13, she joined Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and received her 65-year pin for Sunday school perfect attendance. She was a charter member of the Women's Auxiliary at Woods Grove and had 63 years of perfect attendance. Blanche was involved in many of the church activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God. Blanche always enjoyed visiting with her church family and friends. She got great pleasure in cooking for her family and could often be found delivering cakes to others in the community.

Blanche is survived by her son, the Rev. Jim E. Gurganus and wife, Connie, of Goldsboro; her daughter, Marie G. Hoover and husband, Carroll, of Goldsboro; her brother, Allen Daniels and wife, Ruby, of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, the Rev. Marty Gurganus and wife, Connie, Todd Gurganus and wife, Ann, Yvonne Templeton and husband, the Rev. Barry Templeton, and Barbara Hoover; her great-grandchildren, Michael Gurganus, David Gurganus, Jason Tharrington, Taylor Templeton, Whitney Templeton, Caitlyn Templeton and Anna Templeton; and her great-great-grandchildren, Madelyn Templeton and Austin Tharrington. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much, as well as her dear friend, Glenda Strickland.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Willard Daniels, Lee Daniels, Clee Daniels, Gene Daniels, and her sisters, Sallie Daniels and Esther D. Taylor.
