MOSLEY H. KORNEGAY

Oct. 21, 1915-Jan. 13, 2012

Mosley Herring Kornegay, 96, passed away on Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The family will receive friends Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, from 10 until 11 a.m. in the fellowship hall at Falling Creek Baptist Church followed by a funeral service in the sanctuary at 11 a.m. with Dr. Billy Webb officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. At other times, the family will be at his residence in the Grantham Community.

Mosley was born in Wayne County on Oct. 21, 1915, to the late Junius and Sallie Herring Kornegay. He retired in 1975 from the Railway Express Agency, but always enjoyed farming in the Grantham Community. Mosley was a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. For those who knew him, Mosley will be remembered for his charm, quick wit, and his smile.

Mosley was a devoted husband to his wife of 74 years, Dessie Hood Kornegay. He cherished the many years he had with her and he certainly lived out his vows he pledged to her, in sickness and in health. He is also survived by his sons, Bobby Rex Kornegay and wife, Linda, of Goldsboro, Billy Mosley Kornegay and wife, Donna, of Goldsboro, and Jerry Lee Kornegay and wife, Mary Lou, of Mooresville; his brother, Barney Kornegay and wife, Vickie, of Emerald Isle; and his grandsons, Stuart Kornegay, Jeff Kornegay, Michael Kornegay, Billy Kornegay II, Barry Kornegay and Patrick Kornegay; 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

With loving gratitude, we would like to thank the loving caregivers, Sarah and Lynne, for their incredible guidance, wisdom and support that has sustained us during the past few years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe Kornegay, Jack Kornegay and Rexford Kornegay; his sister, Dyna Kornegay Pyatt and a great-grandchild, Daniel Kornegay.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Flag Fund at Falling Creek Baptist Church, 498 Falling Creek Church Road, Goldsboro, 27530.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
