Beatrice "Bea" Jenson Schwind, 67, went to be with her Lord Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family and friends.

A service to celebrate Bea's life will be held Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at 6 p.m. at Jefferson United Methodist Church, with pastor Alice Davis officiating.

The family will greet friends in the fellowship hall immediately following the service.

Bea was born to the late Edwin and Anna (Edinger) Jenson July 12, 1944, in Minot, N.D.

Married to Garald Gail Schwind for 51 years, she will be remembered as a very loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She was known for her creativity and good cooking and willingness to offer help and advice to all who sought it.

Bea was a member of Jefferson United Methodist Church, where she chaired or served on many committees. She belonged to the Circle of Love, and was a member of the craft team.

She was the director of Jefferson United Methodist Church's Vacation Bible School for many years, and strived to make it more successful every year.

She also continued to serve as a craft team member of her former church, Brogden United Methodist Church, for several years.

In addition to her church activities, Bea volunteered in many capacities over her lifetime, from PTA president, Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader while raising her children to, most recently, Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee and Meals on Wheels.

She worked at Nichols Department Store until her retirement, and served in the 1990 and 2000 census in various capacities.

Bea was also a volunteer for the Wayne County Board of Elections.

She is survived by her husband, Garald Schwind; daughter, Mischelle Carpenter and husband, Grant, of Tunkhannock, Pa.; son, Brett Schwind and wife, Wendy, of Goldsboro; daughter, Stephanie Jackson and husband, Danny, of Goldsboro; and grandchildren, Derek Brown, Cameron Brown, Ian Carpenter, Jennifer Jackson, Jordan Jackson, Chris Schwind and Steven Schwind.

She is also survived by her brothers, Richard Jenson of Manville, N.D., and Dennis Jenson of Erskin, Minn., and sister, Ruby Flowers of Dennison, Texas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Morris Jenson.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Wayne Oncology Center and the fourth-floor staff at Wayne Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care.
