J.K. THOMPSON

James Kornegay "J.K." Thompson, 80, Goldsboro, passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012.

J.K. was born Aug. 21, 1931, in Wayne County to the late J.U. and Naomi Hinnant Thompson.

J.K. graduated with a master's degree in business from East Carolina University, and embarked on a 33-year career with the Wayne County School System. He taught eight years at New Hope, and then 25 years at Charles B. Aycock High School.

J.K. was a longtime member of New Hope Friends Meeting.

J.K. was preceded in death by three siblings, Howard Thompson, Evelyn Thompson and Robert Dale Thompson.

A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at 2 p.m. at New Hope Friends Meeting with pastor Bill Garner and the Rev. Alan Lamm officiating. Interment will follow at Wilson Family Cemetery.

J.K. is survived by a number of cousins.

Friends will be received Wednesday following the graveside committal service.
