CHIEF MASTER SGT. (RET) HAVEN J.D. MOORE

Chief Master Sgt. (Retired) Haven J.D. Moore passed away on Dec. 26 at Pitt Memorial Hospital.

Private final arrangements were lovingly handled by Howell Funeral Home.

Haven served 27 years in the Air Force, primarily as a boom operator, retiring from Seymour Johnson AFB in 1982. During his military career, Haven served several tours overseas including a tour of duty during the Vietnam War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and previously served as Post Commander in Adak, Alaska.

Born Feb. 9, 1936, in Puritan Mines, W.Va., he was the son of the late Emory and Sara Blankenship Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gus, Charlie and Russell Lee Moore, and his sister, Ruby Moore Palagyi.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Claudette (nee Sprinkle); son, Steve Moore (Debra), of Greenland, N.H.; daughters, Sharon Reinhard (Deik) of Kenly, Lisa Lane (David) of Goldsboro, and Lori Tripaldi (Brian) of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Selena, Nathan and Megan Moore, Sara Holacka Drew, and Cameron, Derek and Aubrey Reinhard; great-grandchildren, Isabella Holacka, Addison Reinhard and Haven and Leon Moore; sister, Faye Meadows of Lorain, Ohio; and brother, Reece Moore (Debbie) of Delbarton, W.Va.; sisters-in-law, Billie Moore and Juanita Moore, both of Lorain, Ohio, and Loretta Jarrell of Louisville, Ky.; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He will be sadly missed, never forgotten, and forever cherished by his wife and family.
