Mrs. Martha Battle Williams, 66, lovingly known by her family and friends as "Sister," 303 Hollybrook Ave., Goldsboro, graciously departed her life Wednesday,
Dec. 28, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.

"Sister" was born in Wayne County, Feb. 8, 1945, to the late
Luevenia Hall Battle
and George Battle.

She was educated in the Wayne County Public School System. She graduated from Central High School and after graduation, she attended and graduated from DeShavors Beauty College as a licensed cosmetologist.

Also, she was the owner of Martha's beauty shop for 35 years.

She was a member of Best Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where Martha served as a member of the senior choir until her health failed.

Martha was preceded in death by a sister, Jessie Dorothy Jackson, and a brother, Norris Ray Battle.

Funeral service will be conducted Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Best Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1065 Tommy's Road, Goldsboro, with pastor Joe A. Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Old Mill Cemetery, 2919 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro.

A public viewing will be held Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at McIntyre Funeral Home and Florist, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, from 2 to 6 p.m.

Also, Jan. 1, 2012, the family will be present to receive friends from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home.

Martha leaves to cherish her loving and precious memory her son, Cornelius Tyrone Williams of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven brothers; Alphonso Battle, George Ronnie Battle, Paul Battle and wife, Florence, Clifton Battle and Tony Edmondson all of Goldsboro, James Harper of Queens, N.Y., and Dennis Waters of Washington, D.C.; three sisters, Pauline Bell and husband, Jimmy, Hilda Battle and Janice Isler and husband, Larry all of Goldsboro; two aunts, Retha Hall and Emma Young both of Goldsboro; a special niece, Antoinetta Bell Bethea of the home; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

At other times, the family will receive friends at 303 Hollybrook Ave., Goldsboro, where the family and friends will assemble one hour prior to the funeral in preparation for the funeral procession.

Tessie Whitfield, Willow Creek Nursing Home, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

MOUNT OLIVE -- Lossie Belle Holloman Witherington, 95, passed away Thursday morning, Dec. 29, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 31, at 7 p.m. in the chapel at Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Earl Herring officiating.

Visitation will follow the service, and at other times, the family will be at the home of Wanda and David Williford, 260 Thunder Swamp Road, Mount Olive.

Burial will be Sunday, Jan. 1, at 2 p.m. in Maplewood Cemetery.

She was a member of Jones Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Mrs. Witherington is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and David Williford of Mount Olive; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gene Witherington of Mount Olive, Charles and Carolyn Witherington of Mount Olive and Linwood and Debbie Witherington of Goldsboro; another daughter-in-law, Brenda Witherington of Goldsboro; two sisters, Peggy Edwards and Janice Martin both of Mount Olive; three brothers, Kenneth Holloman and Leonard Holloman Jr. both of Mount Olive and Edward Holloman of Goldsboro; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Witherington; a son, Ray Witherington; a great-grandson, Josh McIntosh; her parents, Leonard and Rosa Ella Anderson Holloman; a brother, Wilbert Holloman; and two sisters, Doris Strickland and Marie Baker.

Kimmie Benton, 44, passed away Dec. 27, 2011.

Kimberly was born in Raleigh Nov. 20, 1967.

Her love and devotion to Jesus, her family and friends has been an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

Kimmie is survived by her loving husband, Gerald Benton, and her children Chandler, Daniel and Sarah Benton of Trenton. She is also survived by her mother, Teddy Boatwright of Kinston; father, Wendell Boatwright of Dillon, S.C.; her grandmother, the Rev. Shirley Jones of Australia; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

FUQUAY-VARINA -- Marjorie Watson Holland, 93, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at Thomas Funeral Home Chapel, 401 N. Ennis St., Fuquay-Varina.
Interment will be held at 3 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, 2925 U.S. 117 South, Goldsboro.

A native of Wilson, she married William David "Bill" Holland in June of 1940, shortly after their graduation from East Carolina College.

Marjorie went on to teach school, and later finished her working career with a local bank.

Upon retirement, they lived in Goldsboro until after Bill's death, when she moved to Windsor Point in Fuquay-Varina.

In addition to her beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Howard O. Watson and Lou Crama Peele Watson, and three sisters, Ruth W. Busbee (Frank), Frances Partin (Bruce) and Effie Lee Speer (James).

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Catherine Dickens Holland, and several nieces and nephews, F. Irvin Busbee Jr. (Lisa Dickson), Howard J. Busbee (Mary), Marshall Partin, Howard Partin, Lou Speer Friberger (Ron) and Jim Speer (Patty).

In addition, Marjorie is survived by nieces and nephews from the Holland family, Jane Riley McCullen, Lucy Riley Maready (Charles), Milton Thomas Riley (Berta), David Holland, Charlotte Holland Mangum
(Donnie), Becky Holland Medlin (W.E.), James Holland (Fran), Catherine Holland Sargent (Pete) and Sarah Holland McGovern (Tom).

Special thanks go to the staff at Windsor Point, Hospice of Wake County and Mary Honaker for their loving care during her recent illnesses.

Rose Marie Gooding Allison, 47, Goldsboro, passed away Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

She was a graduate of Charles B. Aycock.

She is survived by her father, Dock Gooding of Mount Olive; her mother, Dorothy Gooding of Goldsboro; four brothers, Danny, Billy and Philip Gooding of Goldsboro and Patrick Gooding and his wife, Michelle, of Mount Olive; a niece, Rebecca Gooding Graham of Goldsboro; and great-nephew, James Talton Graham of Goldsboro.

A private service will be held.

Family and friends will be gathering at the
residence of Patrick and Michelle Gooding, 267 W. N.C. 403, Mount Olive.

Hope Valley of Clinton is serving the family.
