MOUNT OLIVE -- Major Elwood Wiggins, 64, died at home early Monday, Dec. 26.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 29, at 7 p.m. in the chapel at Tyndall Funeral Home, with visitation afterward.

Burial will be Friday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m. in Wiggins-Price Cemetery in the Red Hill community of Duplin County. Conducting will be Bishop Richard Brown.

Mr. Wiggins had served in the United States Navy, where he was a member of the Blue Jacket Choir.

He had been employed as vice president for manufacturing at Mt. Olive Pickle Co., and in more recent years, had been a loan officer at Wells-Fargo Home Mortgage and at National City Mortgage both in Clayton.

He was a member of the Mount Olive ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

His parents, Lathan Almon Wiggins Sr. and Pauline "Polly" Swinson Wiggins; an infant son, Marcus Almon Wiggins; and a brother, L. A. Wiggins Jr.; preceded him in death.

He is survived by wife, Jennifer M. Wiggins of Four Oaks; sons, Michael A. Wiggins and wife, Shannon, M. Adam Wiggins and wife, Jennifer, and Colton M. Wiggins all of Mount Olive and Dustin J. Wiggins of Four Oaks; daughter, Hannah B. Wiggins of Four Oaks; sisters, Geraldine W. "Geri" Deaver and husband, Robert L. "Bob" Deaver, of Kinston and Susan Elizabeth Wiggins of Mount Olive; brothers, Douglas L. "Lindy" Wiggins Sr. and wife, Judy, Steve Wiggins and wife, Hazel, and Chester M. Wiggins and wife, Vickie, all of Mount Olive; four grandchildren, Claudia, Joshua, Samantha and Nolan Wiggins, who loved their "PaPa Elwood;" and many nieces and nephews.
