EUREKA -- Will Dortch Bass, 93, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011.
Funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Eureka United Methodist Church, followed by visitation. Interment will be at Eureka Cemetery.
Surviving are his daughters, Sandra Jones (Dwight) of Eureka and Carole Groce of Jonesville; grandchildren, William "Dee" Jones of Cornelius, Angela Causby (Kent) of Smithfield, Andrea Lavigne (Matt) of Jonesville and Alex Groce (Josie) of Philomath, Ore.; great-grandchildren, Avery and Liam Jones and Will Lavigne; and brothers, Emerson Bass and Marion "Pete" Bass of Eureka and Mack Bass of Kinston.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Windham Bass; a son-in-law, David Groce; brothers, Joe, Charlie Jr., Lanace "Dick," Ray and Clifton Bass; sisters, Ruby Pender, Cynthia Heath, Alma Rhodes, Nellie Sauls and Doris Sauls.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to two individuals who gave so much care and love to Mr. Bass during his months of declining health, nephew, Randy Bass and caregiver, Wanda Lane.
The family would also like to thank Laura, Bomita, Kim and staff of Community Hospice and Melissa and staff of Gentiva Home Health (Tarheel) and Erlene Strickland.
