Walter Dean "Tex" Ivey, 87, passed away Saturday at the Brian Center.

Tex was born in Parsons, Tenn., July 3, 1924, to the late Alvin and Cora Goodman Ivey.

He was a retired truck driver with Pate-Dawson Co., and most recently was the manager of P&D Trailer Park in Rosewood.

Tex served his country in the United States Army during World War II.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Lynn Epps officiating.

The family will greet friends following the service Tuesday at the cemetery, and other times at the home of Pam and Kenneth Hamm, 102 Waynewood Drive, Goldsboro.

Tex is survived by his wife, Peggy S. Ivey; his children, Pam Hamm and husband, Kenneth, of Goldsboro, Theresa Skeens and husband, Bobby, of Deep Run and Tim Ivey of Goldsboro; his granddaughter, Jena Snyder and husband, Dan, of Goldsboro; his great-grandchildren, Trey Pearce and Taylor Pearce; and his great-great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Emily.

He is also survived by his stepchildren, Junior Johnson, Bill Knotts and Gary Knotts; his brother, Wayne Ivey of Tennessee; and several stepgrandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dwight Ivey, and his brother, Jesse Hill.
