REIDSVILLE -- Sybil Baynes Larimore, 71, 6163 NC 65, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 4, 2011, at Bethany United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jim Raines officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Larimore was born in Reidsville to the late John Daniel "J.D." Baynes Jr. and Gladys Tickle Baynes.

She worked at Sears Mail Order for more than 10 years.

She was a longtime and faithful member of Bethany United Methodist Church, serving in numerous capacities over the years. Her most significant contribution was that she served as the pianist and music director for most of her life, starting as a child.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her cats, and was passionate about her flowers. Everyone in the community always noticed the beautiful flowers around the house. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her grandson, Matthew Scott Larimore.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Curtis Eugene "Gene" Larimore of the home; her son, Gregory Baynes Larimore and wife, Linda' of Goldsboro; her daughter, Janet Dawn Shaw, DVM, and husband, Kevin, of Reidsville; her grandchildren, Daniel, Ashley, Madelyn, Audrey and Adelaide; her brother, Kenneth Errol Baynes Sr. and wife, Billie, of Jamestown; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home Thursday, Nov. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m., and at other times the family will be at the Baynes family farm, 6166 NC 65.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 316 Witty Road, Summerfield, N.C., 27358.

The family would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Kalsoom Khan and the staff of Regional Cancer Center at Stoney Creek, the third floor staff of Wesley Long Community Hospital and the staff of Hospice Home of Rockingham County.
