FAISON -- Bennie Paige, 82, passed away quietly at home Tuesday surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, officiated by the Rev. Paul Rose.

Immediately after the service, the family will receive friends at the funeral home, and at the home at other times.

Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Faison Cemetery.

Mr. Paige is survived by his wife, Jewel Pate Paige; a daughter, Vickie P. Dixon; a son, Mitchell Paige and his wife, Marlene Paige; and a granddaughter, Heather Ward and her husband, Billy Ward, all of Faison.

Born in Moultrie, Ga., when he was a young lad, his family relocated to Duplin County, and it was in Duplin that he lived the remainder of his life. He was a resident of 1368 Friendship Church Road, Faison, and was, prior to his retirement, a farmer, growing tobacco and various other crops.

Following his retirement, he occupied himself by spending time with family and friends.

At an early age, he was preceded in death by his father, Albert Paige, and in later years by his mother, Nell Wise Paige Batchelor, and stepfather, J. W. Batchelor.

In addition, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Paige; three stepbrothers, Dortch, Garland and Johnny Batchelor; three stepsisters, Kathleen Golden, Yvonne Maffeo and Helen Hardin; and accordingly, he is also survived by their families.
