Ms. Joyce Marie Edwards, 58, lovingly known by her family and friends as "Goose," 709 N. Audubon Ave., Goldsboro, N.C., graciously departed her life Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Goldsboro, N.C.

Joyce was born in Greene County, N.C., Oct. 5, 1952, to the late Mary Etta Barrett and Forrest Edwards.

Funeral service will be conducted Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at 1 p.m. in Saint John United Holy Church, 1432 Fort Run Road, Snow Hill, N.C., with elder Michael E. Artis officiating. Interment will follow in Anderson Cemetery, U.S. 13 North, Farmville, N.C.

A public viewing will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at McIntyre Funeral Home and Florist, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., from 2 to 6 p.m.

Also, a wake will be conducted at McIntyre Funeral Home and Florist Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, from 5 to 6 p.m., with the family present to receive friends and other family members.

She is survived by two daughters, Linette Edwards of the home and Gathal Graham and husband, James, of Raleigh, N.C.; a son, Marco Edwards of the home; a grandson, Tyrese Melik Best of the home; four sisters, Ethel Edwards and Linda Graham and husband, Roy, of Kinston, N.C., Mary Hamilton of Goldsboro, N.C., and Magdalene Taylor of Antioch, Tenn.; a brother, Forrest Mewborn and wife, Nell, of Kinston, N.C.; aunts and uncles, Ella Mae Mosley and Mary Barrett both of Snow Hill, N.C., Mildred B. Barrett of Wilson, N.C., Henry Barrett of Windsor, N.C., and Willie Earl Barrett and wife, Rachel, Joe Ben Barrett, William Coley all of Goldsboro, N.C.; and a special cousin, Annie Bell.

At other times, the family will receive friends and other family members at 709 N. Audubon Ave., Goldsboro, N.C. where family and friends will also assemble Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at 11:15 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
