DORIS SUGGS SAULS

PIKEVILLE -- Doris Suggs Sauls, 83, went home to be with her Lord Friday evening, Sept. 16, 2011, surrounded by her family and friends after an extended illness at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A service to remember Doris will be held today, Sept. 18, 2011, at 6 p.m. at the Pikeville P.F.W.B. Church, with her son, the Rev. John Sauls, and the Rev. Don Sauls officiating. Interment will be Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Pikeville Cemetery.

A native of Greene County, she was born on May 17, 1928, to the late Edward Hamilton Suggs and Lucy Forehand Suggs. Doris was married to John Irwin Sauls Sr., who preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 1988. She loved her husband, her children and grandchildren, and her brothers and sisters with an unwavering faith. Doris's primary goal was the happiness and security of her family. She was a woman of incredible faith and was a loyal member of Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, where she was very active in the Ladies Auxiliary. Doris was also faithful in serving meals to bereaved families in her church during their time of loss.

Doris is survived by her sons, John Irwin Sauls Jr. and wife, Mardie, of Sanford, David Sauls and wife, Vicky, of Goldsboro and James Carroll Sauls of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, John Irwin Sauls III and wife, Caroline, Michele S. Beal and husband, Greg, Tracy S. Whitfield and husband, Mark, Dave Sauls and wife, Amber, Stuart Sauls, Stephanie Sauls and fiancé, John Kosarek, Jay Sauls and Daniel Sauls; and four great-grandchildren, Taylor and Kristen Whitfield, Seth Beal and Callaway Sauls. She is also survived by her sisters, Gladys Maready and Montier Savage and husband, Roy; her brothers, Eugene Suggs and wife, Jettye, and Bob Suggs and wife, Dot; her sisters-in-law, Maxine Suggs, Bernice Suggs, Frances Price and Madeline Odom; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Linda Walker Sauls; her brothers, Joe, Jim, Bill, Ed and Leon Suggs; and her sister, Mattie Maready.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Pikeville P.F.W.B. Church 336 Nahunta Road, Pikeville, NC 27863 or to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

The family will receive friends today following the service at the church and other times at the home of David and Vicky Sauls, 112 Brighton Drive in Meares Bluff.
