RAE LONG ALLEN

Ida Rae Long Allen, 85, wife of 66 years to Ed Allen died on Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at Goldsboro Assisted Living.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Madison Avenue Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Fulkerson officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be members of the Goldsboro Host Lions Club.
Rae was born in Person County on March 12, 1926, to the late Tommy and Ruthie Wrenn Long. She was a woman of incredible faith and was a loyal member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church. Rae retired from the Episcopal Children's Home of North Carolina.
Rae is also survived by her children, Faye Beneville and husband, Raymond, of Roxboro, Debbie Tupman and husband, Larry, of Illinois, Kenneth Allen of Raleigh, and Tracy Atkins and husband, M.J., of Pikeville; one brother; one sister; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Keith Allen; one sister; one brother; and one grandson.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Rae Allen Endowment Scholarship Fund at Mount Olive College, 634 Henderson St., Mount Olive, NC 28365, or to Madison Avenue Baptist Church, 300 S. Madison Ave., Goldsboro, NC 27530.
The family will receive friends today, Sept. 18, 2011, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
