LAYLA WILLIFORD

June 3, 2008-Sept. 8, 2011

Layla Jane Williford, 3, went to be with Jesus in the arms of her parents Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at her home.

Layla was born in Wayne County June 3, 2008, to Weldon W. Williford Jr. and Jenifer Hill Williford.

She was a beautiful child who touched so many lives in her short life. Her sweet spirit always showed through as a light in spite of her 22-month battle with AT/RT brain and spinal cancer.

She was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, and was the 2011 Relay for Life honorary child co-chair.

She leaves behind her special collection of sock monkeys and her special friend, Thomas the Train.

A service to remember Layla will be held Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Hollowell officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

In addition to her parents, Layla is survived by her maternal grandparents, Ricky and Patricia Coffey Hill; her paternal grandparents, Jane Lancaster Williford and Weldon Wray Williford Sr.; her maternal great-grandfather, Kenneth Ray Lee; her materna great-grandmother, Geraldine Hill Pardue; and her paternal great-grandmothers, Mary Jane Lancaster and Minnie Williford.

She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Amber Hill Sauls and David Sauls Jr. and Clinton Ashley Williford and Amanda Case Williford.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal great grandparents, Jack Coffey, Jeanette Coffey Lee and Milton Hill, and her paternal grandparents, Clinton Lancaster and Otis Williford.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the home, 2703 Isaac Drive Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
