GORDON L. MCCULLEN

MOUNT OLIVE -- Gordon L. McCullen Sr., 91, Westbrook Street, gently passed away early Thursday morning while at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Mr. McCullen, a World War II Army veteran, was a retired foreman with the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

He was a member of Mount Olive Presbyterian Church.

His survivors include a daughter, Susie M. Stafford of Mount Olive; a son, G. L. McCullen Jr. of Mount Olive; three grandchildren, Wade Stafford and wife, Pam, of Goldsboro, Tammy S. Kuipers and husband, Mike, of Raleigh, and Becky McCullen of Smithfield; two great-grandchildren, Blaine Stafford and Abby Kuipers; along with many nieces and nephews.

Mr. McCullen was preceded in death by his wife, Carmie Price McCullen; his parents, James Walter and Cora Price McCullen; brothers, Carl McCullen, Bryant McCullen, Perry McCullen and infant Kenneth McCullen; and a sister, Rachel M. Kennedy.

Graveside services, including military honors, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Steven Wicks and the Rev. Jeff Dail officiating.

The family is receiving friends at the residence, and will also do so at the cemetery following the services.
