GREENVILLE -- Evelyn Smith McMillan, 85, of Greenville, passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2011.
A service of remembrance will be held Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, LaGrange, with the Rev. Jim Wees officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery
Evelyn was born Sept. 28, 1925, in Lenoir County to the late Heber and Lillian Ellis Smith. She was wife of the late Johnson Leroy "Mac" McMillan and was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Roberts Mann. Evelyn enjoyed giving candy to her grandchildren, reading, puzzles, shopping, riding around and in earlier years cooking and cross-stitching. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family. Evelyn graduated from New Hope High School where she was an outstanding basketball player and was a retired decorating consultant.
Evelyn is survived by three daughters, Sherry Huff and husband, Lewis, of Hampton, Va., Terry Culler and husband, Edward, of Washington, Amy Whitehurst and husband, Hardee, of Greenville; six grandchildren, Chelsea Doster, David Mann, Meredith Love, Mitchelin Keith, Dale Whitehurst and David Whitehurst; five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Erica, Jarred, Noah and Jordan; sister, Frances Rouse; and four brothers, Bennie Smith, Pete Smith, Alphas Smith and Preston Smith.
