EDWARD WATERS

Edward Earl Waters, 89, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. David Pate, the Rev. Rose Hicks and the Rev. Thomas McLendon officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Ed was born in Wayne County on Aug. 9, 1922, to the late Jerry Waters and Mollie Westbrook Waters. He was a farmer in the Rosewood area. Ed enjoyed life and could often be found sharing a story or a sharp tale with a friend or even a stranger. He always enjoyed his time at the store with his many friends. Ed was a devoted member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and because of his great love for good gospel music, Ed sang in the church choir for many years.

Ed is survived by his wife, Jessie Marie Goff Waters; his sons, David Waters and wife, Sandra, of Goldsboro and Ronald Waters and wife, Paula, of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Ron Waters and wife, Jennifer, Brad Waters and wife, Jaime, Lee Waters, Marty Waters and wife, Jeanette, and Steven Waters; his step-grandchildren, Tony and Greg Bocella; four great-grandchildren, Colton Waters, Gavin Waters, Anna Waters and Connor Waters. He is also survived by his wife's family, C.W. Davis Jr., and wife, Jennifer, Stephanie D. Crawford and husband, John, Sheree Davis Garrett and husband, Tommy; grandchildren, Tyler Crawford, Ann Marie Davis, Natalie Davis, Daniel Garrett, Paige Garrett and Justin Crawford; his sister-in-law, Jessie J. Waters; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen Ward Waters; his brother, Hudson Waters; and his sister, Etta Mae Wilkins.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 3859 U.S. Highway 70 W. Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.

The family will receive friends today from 4 until 6 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at his residence.
