SNOW HILL -- Willis Ray Jones, 62, lovingly known by his family and friends as "Mr. Willie," Greendale Forest Nursing Home in Snow Hill, N.C., graciously departed this earthly life Friday, July 29, 2011, at Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston, N.C.

"Mr. Willie" was born in Wayne County March 24, 1949, to the living Jessie Jones Faison and the late Benny Whitfield.

He attended Wayne County Public Schools in Goldsboro, N.C.

To know "Mr. Willie" was to love "Mr. Willie!"

Willis was preceded in death by his father, Benny Whitfield; a brother, pastor Herbert Jones; and a sister, Betty Faison.

Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at 11 a.m. in Morning Star Holiness Church, 705 S. Sycamore St., Fremont, N.C., with pastor Richard Darden officiating. Interment will follow in Hooks Grove Cemetery, 290 Hooks Grove Church Road, Pikeville, N.C.

A public viewing will be held Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at McIntyre Funeral Home and Florist, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C., from 2 to 7 p.m.

Also, a wake will be conducted Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at McIntyre Funeral Home and Florist from 6 to 7 p.m., with the family present to receive friends and other family members.

Brother Willis leaves to cherish his loving memory his mother, Jessie Jones Faison of Goldsboro, N.C.; three brothers, James Faison and wife, Andrea, of Mount Olive, N.C., Charlie Faison and wife, Debra, of Goldsboro, N.C., and Eddie Faison and wife, Tracey, of Fayetteville, N.C.; four sisters, minister Brenda Batts and husband, Barry, of Raleigh, N.C., minister Bessie Carolyn Howell and husband, Robert, of Goldsboro, N.C., and Queenie Franklin and Joyce Hall both of Goldsboro, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

At other times, the family will receive friends and other family members at 1100 N. Jefferson St., Apt. 30, Goldsboro, N.C., where family and friends will also assemble one hour prior to the funeral in preparation for the funeral procession.
