Dann Patrick will officiate. Interment will be held Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with military honors.

Pastor Cordell was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Aug. 28, 1935, to the late Robert Cordell and Mae Etheridge Cordell. He served his Lord in ministry for more than 54 years and had also served his country in the United States Army. Pastor Cordell was a graduate of the Free Will Baptist College in Nashville, Tenn., where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in pastoral studies. His three pastorates included three states: Indiana, Tennessee and Alabama. After retiring in Guin, Ala., the Rev. Cordell served for three years as the promotional director for the Alabama Free Will Baptist State Association. He later came to Goldsboro to serve as the outreach pastor for Faith Free Will Baptist Church. His greatest joy in life was door-knocking, leading someone to the Lord and asking people to come and visit the church.

Cordell; his children, Peggy Sloan and husband, Walter, of Goldsboro, Mike Cordell and wife, Lisa, of Kissimmee, Fla., Nancy Cox and husband, David, of Seattle, Wash., and Ginger Baines and husband, Bob, of Cumming, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister; and two brothers.
