Larry Lee Hartley, 58, went to be with his Lord and savior Saturday, July 16, 2011.

Larry was born in Wayne County Oct. 22, 1952, to the late Elmer Lee "Jake" and Louise Pearce Hartley of Grantham community.

He was a member of Rosewood First Baptist Church.

An avid gardener, Larry loved to work in his garden, and enjoyed sharing God's bounty with others. Larry enjoyed fishing and collecting movies.

He was a brave man, who had battled cancer courageously for the last two years. Even during his sickness, he never gave up or let go of his firm belief in the power of prayer. Larry's determination to let it be God's will was an inspiration to all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Kent Boone and the Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Larry is survived by his wife, Amy Hollowell Hartley; two daughters, Stephanie Dail and husband, Anthony, and Amanda Hartley all of Goldsboro; two sons, Christopher Hartley and wife, Terri, of Sumter, S.C., and Daniel Hartley of the home; five grandchildren, Kasey, Wesley, Kelly, Jayden and Jacob; two brothers, Glen Hartley and wife, Lisa, and Jesse R. Hartley and wife, Jennifer, all of Goldsboro; and two sisters, Doris H. Peele and husband, David, of Princeton and Kathy Tyner and husband, Terry, of Goldsboro.

He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Betty Hollowell; father and mother-in-law, Rodney and Kay Hollowell; sister-in-law, Carla Massengill and husband, Mike; brother-in-law, Mike Hollowell all of Goldsboro; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Rosewood First Baptist Church, 562 N.C. 581 South, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530, or Southeastern Cancer Cure, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at his home, 228 Hollowell Road, Goldsboro.
