MILDRED ANDERSON SINGLETON

April 6, 1922-April 30, 2011

Mildred Anderson Singleton, 89, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Mildred was born in Wayne County April 6, 1922, to the late Robert Edward Lee Anderson and Celia Beasley Anderson. She was married to the late Paul Alvin Singleton.

Along with her husband, they owned and operated for many years Singleton Grocery Store.

She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home Tuesday at 7 p.m., with pastor Chris Singleton officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Singleton Family Cemetery, N.C. 111 South.

Mildred is survived by her sons, Ronnie Singleton and Donnie Singleton; her sisters, Susan A. Spencer of Goldsboro and Edna Rose Blackman of Four Oaks; her brother, Tom Anderson of Goldsboro; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nora Smith.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Britthaven Nursing Home and Kitty Askins Hospice Center for the love and care shown to their mother during her declining health.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Trinity Baptist Church, 1086 N.C. 111 South, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530; Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530; or Edgewood Developmental School, 1601 Peachtree St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Rachel Singleton, N.C. 111 South in Goldsboro.
