MARY VIRGINIA TRAMMELL GIBSON

Mary Virginia Trammell Gibson, 93, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, N.C.

Mrs. Gibson was a longtime resident of the Pines.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 30, 2011, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Dutton of Daniels United Methodist Church officiating. Final interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.

Mrs. Gibson was born in Lakeland, Fla., Dec. 9, 1917, to the late Iris Mae Robertson Trammell and Judge Charles Monroe Trammell Sr. She was married to the late Edward Banks Gibson Jr., retired United States Navy commander.

Mrs. Gibson was a lifelong Colonial Dame, active in her church ladies circle group at Daniels United Methodist Church, top real estate agent in the northern Virginia area for many years and an avid animal lover throughout her life. The joy of her life were her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Gibson is survived by her children, daughters, Dana Gibson Wuntke and husband, retired United States Army Lt. Col. Mark Wuntke, of Lorton, Va., and Goldsboro, N.C., Jane Gibson Wakeham of Malden, Mass., Patricia Gibson Tower and husband, Terry, of Panama City, Fla., and son, Edward B. Gibson III and wife, Donna, of Springfield, Va.; grandchildren, Jonathan Wuntke of Goldsboro, N.C., Staff Sgt. Matthew Wuntke and wife, Jazmin, of Luke AFB, Ariz., Sarah Wuntke Boyd and husband, Christopher, of Washington, N.C., Edward S. Gibson of Springfield, Va. Natalie Gibson of Gainsville, Fla., Karin Hauck of Albany, Calif., Conrad Hauck and wife, Dessi, of Randolph, Mass., and Karl Hauck and wife, Claire, of Pembroke, Mass.; and seven great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her brother-in-law, retired United States Army Col. Faison P. Gibson of Ann Arbor, Mich.; nephew, Dr. Faison P. Gibson Jr. and wife, Mara, of Ann Arbor, Mich.; niece, Sallie P. Gibson of San Francisco, Calif.; and nephew, Charles Monroe Trammell III and wife, Elizabeth, of Chevy Chase, Md.

Mrs. Gibson was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles Monroe Trammell Jr. of Bowie, Md.

The family will receive friends and family Saturday, April 30, 2011, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at her daughter's home in Goldsboro, N.C.
