James Franklin Bell departed this life Monday morning, April 25, in the comfort of his home with his wife, Betty Jean Bell, at his side in Dudley, N.C.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 29, 2011, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home in Goldsboro. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral.

James Franklin was the firstborn to the late James and Ella Dean Bell Jan. 6, 1940.

James grew up in a loving and Christian home.

He attended Dillard High School in Goldsboro, N.C.

He began his employment in 1969 for R.N. Rouse & Co. Inc., and retired in 2009 after 40 years of service. He was a dedicated and hard worker, who loved and took very good care of his family.

James and Betty Jean would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 22, 2011. From this union four children were born.

He will truly be missed by Pamala Vernessa Davis-Jones (Keith) of Annapolis, Md.; James Franklin II (deceased); Deania Delois of Greensboro; James Franklin III (Vanessa) of El Paso, Texas; a very special grandson, Brandon of Greensboro; and Antoinette Bass of Goldsboro.

He also leaves to cherish his memory three brothers, Henry Irish (Flo Ann) of Lantana, Fla., Morris L. (Rosanna) of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Larry D. (Bobbie Jean) of Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters, Gertha Dean Bell of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Brenda D. Duru (Clement) of Miami, Fla., and JoAnn Brown of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two aunts, Lilly Johnson of Goldsboro and Martha Savage of Virginia; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
