MOUNT OLIVE -- Lewis Preston Wells Jr., 78, of the Rones Chapel community, died Friday, March 18, 2011, at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 21, 2011, at 11 in the morning at the Wells-Southerland Family Cemetery with the Rev. David Jackson officiating. Visitation will be held today, March 20, 2011, from 3 until 5 p.m., at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive.
Preston is survived by his three daughters, Sylvia W. Wood of Goldsboro, Teresa Gfeller and husband, Craig, of Greenville, S.C., and Lisa Wells of Mount Olive. He is also survived by his son; Lewis P. Wells III., and his wife, Bobbie, of Mount Olive. Preston is also survived by six grandchildren, Nathan Wood, Chad Gfeller and his wife, Cherry, Lauren Cozart and husband, Tac, Aaron Gfeller and wife, Jessica, Jarod Wells, and Camden Gfeller; three great-grandchildren; Braxton and Sutton Cozart, and Quinn Gfeller. He is also survived by a longtime friend and companion, Maxine King. Preston was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis P. Wells Sr., and Hazel Smith Wells, and a brother, Jimmy Wells. Preston will be fondly remembered by his family as a great provider and for his support in their lives and to his community.
