DERRICK YOUNG

Oct. 19, 1958-March 15, 2011

Derrick Darnell Young, 52, of 131 S. Running Deer Circle, Dudley, transitioned into eternal rest on Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at the Original Tabernacle of Prayer for All People, Inc. at 1 p.m., officiated by Elder Mildred Britt, after which the E.M. Matthews Angelic White Fleet will escort Mr. Young along with adored family to Old Mill Cemetery for interment rites.

He was born on Oct. 19, 1958, in Camden, N.J., but later moved to Goldsboro, where he resided till his death. He attended Goldsboro City Schools and formerly worked at O'Berry Center. He was good for making people laugh, loved to cook and loved to eat, too.

He leaves to cherish fond memories one son, Tubiah Mitchell; one granddaughter, Akeelia Mitchell; grandson, Tubiah Mitchell; and special friend, Angela Council all of Goldsboro. In addition to his son, he also leaves his father, Ricardo Young, and mother, Virginia Ford Young, both of Goldsboro; three brothers, Edward Ford, of Goldsboro, Ricardo (Denise) Young, of Charleston, S.C., and Kevin (Glenda) Young, of Goldsboro; four sisters, Kim (James) Gills, of Goldsboro, Jamie (Darrell) Foy, of Camden, N.J., Simone Wiley, of Goldsboro, and Antoinette Young, of Camden, N.J.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends at the home of Sister Kim Gills at 3167 Hwy. 117 North.
