KENLY -- Durwood Thomas Parker Sr., 79, 2253 N.C. 222 West, Kenly, died Wednesday at his home.

Mr. Parker was born May 25, 1931, in Johnston County to the late A.P. and Martha Worrells Parker, and was the youngest of 12 children.

He was owner and operator of Dot's Cleaners for 36 years.

Mr. Parker was a faithful member of Kenly Free Will Baptist Church and Sunday school class.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Kenly Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Howard Scott and Rudene Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in Kenly Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Jean "Dot" Parker; son, Durwood Thomas "Tommy" Parker Jr. and wife, Gloria, of Rocky Mount; three daughters, Kathy Evans and husband, David, of Roxboro, Jane Bizzell and husband, Jerry, of Kenly and Lynne Jones and husband, Joe, of Dudley; grandchildren, Chris Evans, Jamie Evans and wife, Tina, Scott Bizzell, April Bizzell, Anna Parker Innerarity and husband, Brian, Dana Jones, Raven Jones Pate and husband, Justin, Brandy Jones and Candace Jones; great-grandchildren, Zoe Bizzell, Preston Pate, Lee Jones, Esahbella Innerarity and Ansley Innerarity; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Gail Coley.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minshew-Coley Funeral Home.
