ROBERT L. "BOBBY" GOODSON

MOUNT OLIVE -- Robert Linwood "Bobby" Goodson, 63, died Thursday, March 3.

Bobby, a resident of The Pines of Goldsboro, was a native of Garner's Chapel community near Mount Olive.

He was the son of the late John M. and Gladys Wells Goodson, and was a graduate of East Duplin High School and East Carolina University.

During his youth, he was quite active in the 4-H Club, and he cultivated his like for gardening, tending to plants and flowers, even at The Pines, where he cared for flowers in his room and at the facility for the enjoyment of others. He had been a school teacher, and had also explored a career in men's clothing sales. He had also sold fruit and honey through his experiences at area flea markets.

Bobby was reared on his father's farm, and during his early years, he became a member of Garner's Chapel Baptist Church.

Bobby is survived by a sister, Betty Goodson Sutton of Cary; two brothers, Dr. Phil Goodson and wife, Bobbie, of Raleigh and Michael Goodson of Princeton, N.J. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and a number of cousins.

Funeral services for Bobby will be held Saturday, March 5, at 11 a.m. by the graveside in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive, with the Rev. Frank Turner officiating

Following the service, there will be a time of greeting amongst Bobby's family and friends.

Tyndall Funeral Home has charge of the service.
