HAROLD M. CARDWELL

Harold Monroe Cardwell, 64, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Harold was born in Reidsville, N.C., to the late Howard Monroe Cardwell and Oneda Tucker Cardwell.

Raised in Madison, N.C., Harold attended Madison High School and Nash Community College.

He owned and operated a masonry contracting business until 1983, when he and his family relocated to Goldsboro, N.C.

Harold worked for United Insurance Co. of America until his retirement in 2008. He then went to work for Western and Southern Insurance Group until his illness.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Harold will be held Saturday, March 5, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Doug Johnson officiating.

Family members will greet friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Harold is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Toni Snypes Cardwell; three daughters, Stephanie Harris and husband, Greg, of Pleasant Garden, N.C., Sabrena Cardwell of Eden, N.C., and Kelly Cardwell Joyce and husband, Demetrik, of Wilmington, N.C.; two grandchildren, Nicholas Harris and Jacob Harold Reed; two brothers, Arthur Steve Cardwell and wife, Odessa, of Madison, N.C., and Dennis Jerry Cardwell and wife, Patsy, of Mayodan, N.C.; a sister, Darlene Cardwell Brown and husband, Dewitt, of Madison, N.C.; a special sister-in-law, Carolyn Snypes Johnson of Houston, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold was a fun-loving man and a jokester to all. He could always put a smile on your face.

Harold loved playing golf, trips to the beach and dancing to beach music. He was a loving, caring man devoted to his family and friends. He will be missed by many.
