MINNIE DANCY

April 10, 1913-Feb. 23, 2011

Minnie Dancy was born in Nash County, N.C., April 10, 1913, and departed this life Feb. 23, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

She was married to the late Frank L. Dancy.

She attended Nash County Public Schools in her early years.

She was a member of Elm Grove Church in the early parts of her life, and later joined New Stoney Hill Church, where she was a faithful member of the mother board.

She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter, Janet Jennette of Goldsboro, N.C.; two grandchildren, Brenda (Shawn) Lewis of Goldsboro, N.C., and Andre Jennette Jr. of Goldsboro, N.C.; four great-grandchildren, Tiffany Lewis of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Ashley Lewis, Michael Jennette and Tamya Lewis all of Goldsboro, N.C.; a niece, Carlene Brodie of Goldsboro, N.C.; two nephews, Moses Earl Brodie and Chester Lee (Annie) Brodie both of Goldsboro, N.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held today from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services to celebrate the life and legacy of Mother Dancy will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at New Stoney Hill United Holy Church. Following the celebration of a life well lived in the sanctuary, Mother Dancy's delicate temple, along with her adored family, will be escorted to Wayne Memorial Park for interment rites. Mother Dancy has traveled this journey called life through many hard trials and great tribulations, but now she can say like Paul "I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith, now laid up for me is my crown of righteous."
