GREENSBORO -- Mrs. Gloria McGovern Underwood passed away Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, after a long illness.
A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Mrs. Underwood will be buried in Arlington Cemetery alongside her husband at a later date.
Gloria was born to the late Leo and Amelia McGovern Nov. 20, 1929, in Dansville, N.Y.
She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband, Col. Paul G. Underwood.
Mrs. Underwood is survived by her brother, Donald McGovern and wife, Katie of Dansville, N.Y.; and six children, including three daughters, Marilyn Alexieff and husband, George, of Raleigh, N.C., Kathy White of Greensboro, N.C., and Patty Underwood of Las Vegas, Nev., and three sons, Richard Underwood and wife, Janice, of Appling, Ga., James Underwood and wife, Judy, of Key Largo, Fla.. and David Underwood and wife, Trish, of Bradenton, Fla.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Raymond D'Antuono of Brooklyn, N.Y., Michael Alexieff of Raleigh, N.C., Stephen Alexieff of Greenville, N.C., Erin White of Asheville, N.C., Jessica Underwood of Fayetteville, N.C., Paula Underwood of Los Angeles, Calif., Jean Underwood of Miami, Fla., Kristie Geimer of Sarasota, Fla., and Melanie Underwood of Bradenton, Fla.
