JEAN PEARMAN

Stella Jean Pearman, 71, passed away suddenly Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Jean was born in Wayne County May 17, 1939, to the late Charlie Penn Pearman and Mary Denning Pearman.

She was a 1960 graduate of Goldsboro High School. Jean later attended college, graduating from Wayne Community College and East Carolina University.

For over 14 years, Jean worked as a social worker with Cherry Hospital.

She was the first patient admitted to Lennox Baker Hospital at Duke.

Jean will be remembered for her determination to do her best despite her handicap. She had a big heart for other people with special needs.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Merrill Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Jean is survived by her brother, William Pearman and wife, Joyce, of Goldsboro; her sister-in-law, Martha Seymour Pearman of Raleigh; her nieces, Tamara Pearman and husband, Stephen Ward, and Amanda P. Snavely and husband, Jeff; and her great-niece, Mazzy Snavely. She is also survived by her special caregivers, Annie, Ressie, Lisa and Linda.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her brother, Col. John Denning Pearman.

A great animal lover, she was survived by her lap dogs, Lizzie and Lil-Buddy.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Wayne Community College Foundation for Handicapped Students, P.O. Box 8002, Goldsboro, N.C., 27533-8002.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the home of William and Joyce Pearman, 601 Fedelon Trail, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
