MOUNT OLIVE -- Annie Thelma Miles, 67, died late Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011.

Though a native of Wagram in Scotland County, Ms. Miles had been a resident of the Mount Olive and Seven Springs areas for many years. She had assisted on many area farms through the years, and for more than the past 30 years, she had provided in-home care for the elderly in many area families and also had provided child care.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tiwanda Poole; her mother, Mary Lize Miles; her father, Freddie Cole; and a brother, John C. Miles. She is survived by two daughters, Annie Deloris "Tootsie" Miles of Kinston and Mary Ann Miles Exum of Seven Springs; two grandchildren, Tamesia Roberts of Clinton and Dareese Satterwhite of Kinston; three great-grandchildren, Keyonte, Hezekiah and Jayden Poole, all of Beulaville; a sister, Iona Miles Covington of Laurinburg; three uncles, Fred Adams and Danny H. Bostic, both of Gibson, N.C., and Ulysses Pressly of Salter, S.C.; two aunts, Queen E. Adams of Gibson, N.C., and Louvenia Pressly of Salter, S.C.; and two nephews, the Rev. Willie Frank Miles and Arthur Jerome Miles, both of Laurinburg. Also surviving are a special family with whom she had many years of friendship, care-giving and employment: Johnny Raiford, Jon, Amy, Jarret, Jordyn and Justin Raiford, all of the Seven Springs area, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 28, at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive. Burial will follow in the Jerusalem Church Cemetery near Seven Springs.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m., and at other times at the home of Mary Ann Exum, 357 Townsend Road, Seven Springs.
