RAY CARTER

Ray Carter, 93, passed away Wednesday.
Born in Lenoir County, he was the son of the late George and Myrtie Davis Carter.
A veteran of the United States Army, he was retired from the Goldsboro Fire Department after 30 years of service.
He was a charter member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church, the American Legion Post #15, the VFW #15034 and the Retired Goldsboro Firefighters Association.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home in Goldsboro. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with honors provided by the Goldsboro Fire Department Honor Guard.
He is survived by his sons, George M. Carter of Miami, Fla., and Ken R. Carter of Goldsboro; three granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.
