GENE EDWARD THORNTON

WINTERVILLE -- Gene Edward Thornton, 68, passed away Sunday at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Gene was born in Wayne County Jan. 19, 1942, to the late Raymond Lee Thornton and Estean Culbreth Thornton.
He retired from Joseph E. Segrams and Son.
Gene was a member of the Moose Lodge in Goldsboro.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with Dr. Greg Rogers officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Gene is survived by his wife, Mary Gay Thornton of Winterville; his son, Eddie Thornton and wife, Tempie, of Winterville; his grandchildren, Holly Rebekah Thornton of Greenville and Maci Elizabeth Thornton and Jessica Lauren McLawhorn of Winterville; and his brother, Harry Lee Thornton of Carolina Beach.

The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home.
