BURLINGTON -- Jodie Boykin Cook, 88, passed away Nov. 19, 2010 at Coble Healthcare, Twin Lakes Community, Burlington.

A graveside service will be held Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Clinton City Cemetery, Clinton, where she will be interned with her late husband. The Rev. Stephen Rust and her nephew, the Rev. Rennie Adcock will officiate the service.

"Cook," as she was called by her grandchildren and friends, was born on May 9, 1922, in Wilson to the late Stephen Thomas and Nettie Dew Boykin. In 1944, she married the late Arthur Griggs Cook. She was one of "the greatest generation," owning a restaurant at age 19. She often talked about feeding the soldiers when they stopped on the train on their way to war.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Robinson and husband, Dave, of Burlington; two granddaughters, Jodie Ayres and husband, David, and Julie Grahl and husband, Jimmy, all of Charlotte; and four great-grandchildren, Burkley, Harper, and Wilson Ayres and Sutton Grahl. She is also survived by two sisters, Joyce Tarbox and husband, Jack, of Goldsboro and Audrey Brady of Winston-Salem.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Keith Boykin and Grady Boykin, and two sisters, Ruth Clow and Jeanie Boykin.

The family would like to thank those at Coble Healthcare who loved and cared for "Cook."
