Pamela Jeffords Culbreth McBride passed away peacefully Nov. 7, 2010, at the age of 89.

She was born Aug. 18, 1921, in Scotts Hill, Pender County, to the late John Thomas and Adelaide Josephine Harrell Culbreth.

Pam was preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 43 years, Carl Eugene McBride, who was proprietor of McBride and Herring Sporting Goods for more 45 years until his death March 21, 1991.

She was also preceded in death by brother, John Thomas Culbreth Jr.; sister, Mary Dozier Culbreth (and husband Charles) Redmond; sister Emily Adelaide Culbreth (and husband Harold Bankston) Marbut; and brother, Thomas Daniel Culbreth.

She is survived by Tom's wife, Helene E. DePonte Culbreth of South Yarmouth, Mass. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Carl and Pam had two sons, both of whom survive, Carl Eugene McBride Jr. and Robert Ora McBride. Gene is living in Los Angeles, Calif. Bob and his wife, Dianne Clay Stallings McBride, are living in Raleigh. Their son, Joshua McBride, is living in Wilmington and son, Stanley Stallings, is living in Knightdale.

Carl and Pam had been members of First Presbyterian Church of Goldsboro for more than 60 years.

The McBride family lived in a home on East Maple Street for 52 years. Pam was content to take care of the home and nurture her family. Except for trips to visit family and the many family vacations all over the United States east coast, Pam rarely left Goldsboro.

Visitation will be at Seymour Funeral Home, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Friday, Nov. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Goldsboro, 1101 E. Ash St., at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13. Interment will be at Willow Dale Cemetery immediately following.

Pam held a special place in her heart for each and every one of her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
