Wilbert Erastus Wellons, 93, passed away Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Wilbert was born in Wayne County Nov. 9, 1916, to the late William Erastus Wellons and Mamie Dickerson Wellons. He was married to the late Lina Lee Wellons.

Wilbert served his country in the United States Army during World War II, and retired from Keebler Cookie Co. in Goldsboro.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 2615.

Graveside services will be held Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at 11 a.m. in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive, with pastor Bill Rose officiating.

Wilbert is survived by his stepson, Alton Grady of Princeton; his stepdaughter, Wanda Daniels of Goldsboro; his sister, Annie W. Eanes of Burlington; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, B.J. and Ann Lee of Mount Olive; eight stepgrandchildren; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
