MOUNT OLIVE-- Mr. Ellis Ray Howell, 74, died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Born in Wayne County, he was son of the late Needham and Roxie Jones Howell.
He was a faithful member of Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he served as secretary and treasurer for many years.
He was a member of Mount Olive Rotary Club, and served as secretary and treasurer for many years. He was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship Award.
He was self-employed as an accountant for 41 years.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church, at 130 Edmundson Road.
Visitation will be immediately following the funeral service. Burial will Sunday at 3 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Faye Holland Howell; two daughters, Gloria H. Wagoner and husband, Stephen, of Mount Olive and Selina H. Puryear and husband, Billy, of Fayetteville, N.C.; two grandsons, Greg Swinson and wife, Jennifer, of Mount Olive and Tyler Puryear of Fayetteville, N.C., a great-grandson, Dorian Sutton of Mount Olive; and a sister, Carol Herring and husband, Bill, of Mount Olive.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund.
