LAGRANGE -- Marie Herring Bartlett, 82, LaGrange, passed away Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010.
Mrs. Bartlett was born Oct. 31, 1927, in Lenoir County to Elizabeth Sutton Herring of LaGrange and the late Ben D. Herring.
She was a member of White Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church, where she served as pianist for more than 60 years.
Marie retired from Howell's Child Care Center, where she worked as a group home coordinator, and had a great love of traveling.
A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. at White Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bob Smith and the Rev. Greg Stancil officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Dawson-Herring Cemetery.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Bartlett is survived by three sons, Ronnie Bartlett and wife, Carol, of LaGrange, Bobby Bartlett of LaGrange and Russell Bartlett and wife, Laura, of Goldsboro; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Bartlett, Dee Bartlett, Meghan Bartlett, Brett Bartlett and Brooks Bartlett; sister, Mabel Smith of Goldsboro; and brother, M.J. Herring of Maysville.
Mrs. Bartlett was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Garris.
The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service of remembrance, and at other times they will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Bartlett, 4335 Ed Herring Road in LaGrange.
