GERALD L. DUNLAVEY

Gerald Leslie Dunlavey, 84, of 2710 Langston Drive in the Kirkwood Community, passed away Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Born in Brockton, Mass., he was the son of the late Charles Sargent and Ruth Dunlavey. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during World War II. His love for the road kept him busy driving trucks and buses for more than 51 years.

A service to celebrate the life of Gerald Dunlavey will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with family members remaining to visit afterwards.

Gerald is survived by four children, Tomas Scott Dunlavey and wife, Brenda of Wilson, Stephanie D. West and husband, Michael of Goldsboro, David Allen Dunlavey of Massachusetts, Leslie A. Dunlavey of Massachusetts; his best friend and big brother, Ralph Dunlavey of Florida; and five grandchildren, Brianna West, Hunter Dean, Heather Dunlavey, John Michael Dunlavey and Garrett West.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be directed to the Kirkwood Retirement Community, 2710 Langston Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27530 or to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-0301. Attn: Gift Processing.
