MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Mr. Durwood E. Hatchell Sr., 49, 4557 Farm Lake Drive, formerly of Sampson County, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Conway Medical Hospital.
A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home Chapel in Clinton, N.C.
Mr. Hatchell, a native of Newport News, Va., was the son of the late William F. Hatchell Sr. and Thelma Register Hatchell.
He worked for USIC as a utility locator out of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Pitchford and Jennifer Krause.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Betty Pearson Hatchell of the home; a son, Durwood "Earl" Hatchell Jr. of Myrtle Beach; two brothers, both of Goldsboro, William "Bill" Hatchell and wife, Pat, and Ray Hatchell and wife, Christine; and three sisters, Judy Hatchell of Durham, Frances Brunton of Kinston and Barbara Jamison of Hampton, Va.
Friends will be received following the service Saturday evening at the funeral home.
