MOUNT OLIVE -- Nellie Scott Cox, 83, passed away Wednesday morning at her home at 548 Baker's Chapel Church Road.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chris Currie officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.

She was retired from Carolina Power and Light Co. with more than 30 years of service as an office clerk.

Mrs. Cox is survived by her four loving children and their spouses, Lynda C. and Jim Roten of Mount Olive, Becky C. Boudreaux of Lumberton, Texas, Lynwood "Bill" and Susie Cox and Bonnie C. and Jacob Jenkins all of Mount Olive; seven grandchildren, Lynwood "Jr." Cox, Bonnie Roberts, Keith Roten, Joy Best, Michael Boudreaux, Rachael Boudreaux and Jordan Jenkins; six great-grandchildren, Lindsay Roberts, Megan Roberts, Jenny Cox, Taylor Cox, Meredith Best and Raeylee Barefield; a great-great-grandchild, Kimber Howell; a very dear friend, Bobbie Coley of Grantham; and special caregivers, Sally Whitley, Peggy Malpass and Kimberly Cox, as well as the Carolina East Home Care and Hospice team, especially Jennifer Jernigan and Mary Carlton, and Dr. James Lambert and his staff.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L. Martin Cox; her parents, Ben W. and Hattie Outlaw Scott; two sons-in-law, Thomas Boudreaux and Charles Flowers; a brother, Jack Scott; and two sisters, Anna Mae Scott Grady and Lucille "Tom" Scott Clark.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9, and at the residence at other times.

Flowers are welcome, and for those wishing to do so, the family suggests memorial gifts be made to Mrs. Cox's church, Mount Olive Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 158, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.
