Lester Bryan Whittaker went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday at home due to a sudden heart attack.

Homegoing services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at The Lord's Table Church in Goldsboro. Entombment will follow with full military honors at Wayne Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Lester was born Feb. 10, 1934, in Virginia to the late Charles and Pearlie Whittaker.

He was retired from the United States Air Force and a member of The Lord's Table Church.

Mr. Whittaker is survived by his wife, Janice Whittaker; three daughters, Rhea Featherson and husband, Ricky, of Goldsboro, Becky Kelly and husband, Tom, of Newport and Stephanie Smith and husband, Alan, of Goldsboro; two sons, Ricky Gum of Ohio and Jimmy Rose of Grantham; four brothers, Tom Whittaker and wife, Shelia, George Whittaker and wife, Charlotte, and David Whittaker and wife, Charlotte all of Virginia and John Whittaker and wife, Karen, of Tennessee; two sisters, Laura "Spook" Pippin and husband, Don, and Lou Whittaker of Virginia; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandchild.

The family will receive friends Friday one hour prior to the service at the church beginning at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The Lord's Table Church, P.O. Box 11049, Goldsboro, N.C., 27532.
